Gianlorenzo Dionigi
Gianlorenzo Dionigi is Professor of Surgery at the University of Milan, Director of the
Department of General Surgery and Chairman of the Section of Endocrine Surgery
He is an active member of the Research Committee of the European Society of Endocrine
Surgery (ESES), the European Thyroid Society (ETA), the American College of Surgeons (FACS),
the American Thyroid Society (ATA) and the Chinese Thyroid Society
He is a member of the European Board of Surgery - Endocrine Surgery Section. Prof. Dionigi
has experience with neuromonitoring since 2004 and founded the International
Neuromonitoring Study Group, the Korean Intraoperative Neuromonitoring Society (KINMoS)
and the Chinese and Italian Neuromonitoring Groups
First use of neuromonitoring in Italy
First provider of endoscopic transoral thyroidectomy in Italy and first provider of robotic
transoral thyroidectomy in Europe
He has led lectures on thyroid and parathyroid surgery and live "hands-on" surgeries in surgical
departments in China, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, USA, Brazil, Africa, Middle East and Europe. In
Italy there are 3 centres for thyroid surgery decided by the government; Prof. Dionigi heads
the centre in Northern Italy
He has published more than 500 indexed papers, 24 chapters in textbooks, 6 guest editors in
scientific journals. Gianlorenzo Dionigi is the editor of 5 textbooks in general surgery. Professor
Dionigi has been responsible for several national and international endocrine surgery and
interdisciplinary guidelines. Professor Dionigi's special interest is clinical and translational
research in the field of endocrine surgery
